College for Kids - Monday 8/11

Homemade Butter Mints
1/4 c. softened butter
3 1/4 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c. sweetened condensed milk
1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
-beat butter til fluffy
-add sugar and milk (dough will look crumbly)
- divide the dough into as many bowls as colors you want
- work in a dab of gel color
- roll into rope and cut into pieces
-let dry a few hours
these mints will last in the frig for a few weeks
KoolAid Dots
1.5 cups of powdered sugar
1 T meringue powder + 2 T slightly warm water
1/4 tsp of Kool-Aid flavoring
Using an electric mixer powder and water and the powdered sugar together for about 4- 5 minutes.
Separate your combined amount into 4 equal parts.
Add the Kool-Aid powder and stir it up with a spoon.
Place your colored mixtures into plastic baggies.
Cut a small piece off the tip of the baggies and make small dots on the wax side of your paper strips.
The candies will harden completely over night.

Jello Candy Melts
1lb. powdered sugar
8oz. cream cheese
mix well
separate into several small bowls
add jello powder to color and flavor
pull off small pieces, roll into balls and press into sugar
store in frig

Edible Cake Mix Playdough
1 box cake mix
1 stick softened butter
1 Tbsp. of water - only if needed
food coloring optional
